Known for his ability to seamlessly bridge advanced clinical expertise with a refined, compassionate patient experience, he has guided thousands of individuals toward informed, life-enhancing medical decisions — always with transparency, empathy, and precision.
His path into specialized healthcare was driven by a profound commitment to restoring human mobility. Completing his intensive surgical practice at the Traumatology and Orthopedics Hospital of Lomas Verdes — one of Mexico’s most demanding and high-volume trauma centers — was an experience that not only shaped his clinical resilience, but defined his purpose. From that moment forward, he committed his career to helping patients navigate their physical recovery with clarity, confidence, and cutting-edge minimally invasive techniques.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Ruiz has held critical surgical roles with respected institutions including Hospital General Regional IMSS, Premier Medical Center, and Hospital Blue. Specializing in orthopedics and traumatology, he partners closely with his clinical teams to educate patients on advanced therapeutic options — from complex joint replacements and spine surgeries to regenerative therapies like Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) — delivering an elevated standard of care to both local and international patients.
Fully certified by the Mexican Orthopedic Council (Consejo Mexicano de Ortopedia y Traumatología), Dr. Ruiz is recognized for both his professional excellence and his unwavering dedication to surgical outcomes. He remains actively engaged in the evolving science of healthcare, holding a Master’s degree in the Directive Management of Health Institutions and contributing to published medical literature, ensuring his approach is always aligned with the latest research and best practices.
At his core, Dr. Ruiz’s work is defined by one principle: meaningful physical transformation and restored mobility, delivered one patient at a time.
Dr. Ruiz has successfully performed over 2,000 surgeries to date, becoming a highly sought-after specialist for international patients from the US and Canada who travel across borders specifically to seek out his world-class orthopedic care.

Trained on four continents and recognized internationally for his work in endoscopic and motion-preserving techniques, he has guided patients from across Mexico, the United States, and Canada through decisions that restore mobility, relieve chronic pain, and protect long-term spinal health.
His path into specialized neurosurgery began at Mexico’s prestigious National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery (INNN), where he completed his residency in one of Latin America’s highest-volume neurosurgical centers. He went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Spinal Pathology through UNIA / SATO in Spain, followed by advanced fellowships in complex spine surgery at St. Thomas’ Hospital NHS in London, minimally invasive spine surgery at Wooridul Spine Hospital in South Korea, and pediatric spine surgery at Orton Invalidisäätiö in Finland.
Dr. López Serna is a founding member of NEUROCUN (Center for Neurological and Neurosurgical Specialties) and an active member of AOSpine International, EuroSpine, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the European Pediatric Orthopedic Society, and the Mexican Council of Neurosurgery (CMCN). His clinical focus spans endoscopic discectomy, transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF), anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), microdiscectomy, laminectomy, and radiofrequency ablation — always favoring the least invasive approach that delivers a durable outcome.
An active contributor to the published medical literature, Dr. López Serna’s peer-reviewed work spans craniopharyngioma treatment, pituitary imaging protocols, endoscopic spinal anatomy, and neurovascular case reports — with research cited by surgeons and academic centers around the world. His commitment to evidence-based practice ensures every protocol he recommends is grounded in current science and global best practice.
